PROBAJ PLES / TRY DANCE

A dance-based board game of movement and imagination.

Try Dance was developed as a pilot project between 2023 and 2024 through the collaboration of mold kolektiv and SHOOMA.
The project was initiated with the idea of creating an artistic format that connects generations and brings contemporary dance into everyday life through a simple yet powerful tool — a board game.

Try Dance was conceived as a shared space for encounter, movement and togetherness.

The game responds to the increasing intellectualisation of children and young people, which often overlooks the importance of play and direct bodily experience as foundations for healthy development.
Our ambition is to bring play and dance back to the centre of life — allowing children and young people to reconnect with their bodies and their immediate environment, while also creating a space where different generations can meet in an unexpected way: through dance, as a form of non-verbal communication.

Try Dance uses a creative approach to movement to encourage bodily expression, imagination and cooperation among players.
Through a variety of dance tasks, players explore their own movement possibilities and develop bodily awareness.

The game creates a safe space for emotional expression, reduces stress and supports self-acceptance, contributing positively to the mental and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.
Shared challenges strengthen trust and a sense of belonging, while freedom of interpretation nurtures confidence and creativity.

In a time when society is increasingly distanced from physical experience and emotional crises are becoming more visible, dance emerges as a healing practice. Through Try Dance, we aim to educate, sensitise and offer a direct experience of what dance can be — and how everyone can participate in it.

Try Dance is not just a game — it is a journey through movement and shared experience that fosters joy, creativity and wellbeing of both body and mind.
